Elkhart Municpal Band Free Winter Concert

The Elkhart Municipal Band knows no winter blahs with this family musicale that has something for all. This concert program includes great band works by Rolf Rudin, Leonard Bernstein, John Philip Sousa, John Williams, Claude T. Smith and David Maslanka.
As a celebration for our former band member, Onsby Rose, the concert opens with this Elkhart debut of his original composition titled, “Heroes From the Sea,” a fanfare for wind & percussion.
Continuing in this celebration of members, the band honors and remembers those talented members who are no longer here, with their presentation of Samuel Hazo’s “Voices Of The Sky.”
In tribute to the athletes participating in the Winter Olympic Games in South Korea, the audience will hear “Bugler’s Dream” (Olympic Fanfare) and “The Olympic Spirit.”
The concert spectrum of music ranges from the big masterworks to a smooth and beautiful “Song Without Words” including a classic performance of the most widely performed band overtures in the world!
Elkhart’s official city band plays some of the most well-known concert/symphonic band pieces that are exciting & fun for audiences and the musicians as well.
This concert is FREE to the public.
The Elkhart Municipal Band presents their summer concert series (June-August) every Tuesday evening at 8 pm at McNaughton Park, along the river. All concerts are free & presented by the band & the city of Elkhart.
